Day 3 began with a drive to Barahona to visit the Jaime Mota Regional Hospital, a second-level hospital where the RIT students had the opportunity to observe and ask questions. They also met with the former Minister of Health and learned more about the country’s health system 🏥On the way to Santo Domingo, they stopped by Los Patos, where we saw the shortest river in the Dominican Republic, located near the beach. Day 2 was yesterday for the RIT team and it was packed with activity! The college crew started off with a trip to Banano on the Dominican side and they had the opportunity to see the students at the Lighthouse Foundation. Then they traveled to the community of Agua Negras, where they taugh personal hygienene to more than 250 students, ranging in ages 6 to 16 years old.
